Hello everyone!

As part of my blog i have decided to start video blogging (or vloging) It will mostly be reviews of different items I've purchased or places we have visited. Its all in a bid to docent my life and get to know you all better. My first review is below and i hope you enjoy watching it.

Have a wonderful christmas whatever you are doing and I'm sending peace and love to you all! Bye for now!

Christmas is coming!

So Christmas is nearly soon us. As I look around the shops I see pretty lights, tinsel, adverts and prompts urging us to buy buy buy!  But what happens when you can't?  What happens when you have to choose between heating your home or buying you child a Christmas present?  What happens when Christmas dinner is beans on toast?  There are people in this country facing Christmas like that. People who will be relying on a food bank to get them through the festive period. Spare a thought for them. When uploading the photos of your tree bulging with presents, think about how it feels to be a parent who just hasn't got the money to buy any presents at all. In your prayers remember those who may be spending Christmas alone. Either for the first time or as a regular occurance. Most of all remember Christmas is about love. Spending time with those you love, enjoying being with friends. Even just enjoying the Christmas telly repeats!  I hope whatever you are doing over the Christmas period you will be happy and blessed.
Bye for now.

Nearly Christmas

Well it's been months since my last post. I've been without a laptop for all that time and have only just realised I can get blogger on my phone!  Doh moment!

So are you all ready for Christmas?  Here at CM towers we are nearly ready. With the exception of my sister in law, all the presents are bought and wrapped. The meat has been ordered and grocery list written.

I'm feeling very Christmassy. Yesterday we had a signing choir join us in church. They were amazing and I was pretty much mesmerised by them. They signed a mixture of hymns and Christmas carols. After church we put on the Sunday lunch, pressed play on the cheesy Christmas cd and put up the Christmas tree.  Princess really enjoyed choosing what decoration went where. We have a pretty mismatched tree with decorations from when the boys were small as well as much recent buys. We try to limit ourselves to buying one new decoration a year. (Although I've bought two of the little crocheted Angels from tesco today) Mr CM likes to decorate the windows with lights etc but I'm not so keen. The boys laugh and call me a bah humbug but I don't care!  So our house can now be seen from space with the lights Mr CM has arranged on the Windows.

Tomorrow we are having a new bed delivered. I'm so pleased we have been waiting for weeks. The bedroom carpet has been shampooed in readiness and the decorating was finished weeks ago so we all we need to do now is wait for the bed. I shall do a review on it when it comes.

Well I guess that's all for now. I hope you are keeping warm in this dismal weather and look forward to your comments.
Bye for now X

Happy birthday Mr CM

Hello again.
This week saw the annual event of Mr CM's birthday. Birthdays are like that they tend to come round once a year! He is 45 (he wont mind me telling you) We had just a little celebration as we are saving it all up for my 40th birthday in a couple of weeks!  Well that's what I'm banking on!

The weather here has been lovely and we have had sun everyday this week.  Its been lovely seeing the warm spring sunshine streaming in through the windows.  We have even been able to have the windows open some days.  So nice to have the fresh air pouring in after the stuffiness of winter!

I have been crocheting flowers. Fresh bright flowers. I used the  daffodil  pattern from Simply Crochet.  Very easy to follow and a complete the success!  I also made some from my 100 flowers to knit and crochet book.  I love this book and I don't think I will ever manage to make one of everything in it!
I intend to make them in to brooches for friends and family.  Maybe a mothers day present?

I have started a new blanket. Joining in with a crochet along.  Only I have a bit of a problem.  I cant remember which blog I'm following along with!  Doh! Typical me!  I know its make a blanket in March and I'm sure I will find the blog again!  Until then I will just carry on with my blanket and join in with the others when I can! As soon as I find out where the crochet-along is I will let you know lol!
Well once again its time to go.  Enjoy the sun and have a blessed week!
Bye for now

Spring into march!

Hello again. sorry for the long absence. it seems the winter bug got the better of us. We all ended up with it. A very nasty virus which still hasn't left to be honest. Ive heard that the cough it leaves you with has been called the 100 day cough by GPs because of the length of time it stays with you. Bloomin thing!
  Well on to better things!
I finally finished a pair of socks that I had been promising my niece.  Bless her they have been on the needles for two years!  I fell foul of the second sock syndrome!  But at last they are finished and delivered to a very grateful (and now cosy footed) teenager.  I'm quite grateful that a teenager would want to wear my makes.  She also has other knitted items that she wears quite often.  It makes my heart happy to know my makes bring other  people joy!

Ive also started work on a owl blanket.  It comes from a free pattern that can be found here.   It has been quite nice to work on something that I haven't really had to think too hard about while Ive been ill.  its worked up quite well but I have found that the ends have started to curl so I think Ive made a mistake somewhere!

Its not made for anyone in particular so theres no time limit so I have time to sort out the problem.  I think that maybe its just not enough increases in the rows.  I love the little eyes peering out!
I crochet once a week with two other ladies and even though they have been crocheting under a year they are going great guns!  There are blankets and throws being created as we speak!  They have picked it up really well!  I will share some of their work with you soon.
Well its time to go.  Please pop by again soon. Have a blessed week!
Bye for now

Sick note

Here's February!

Hello again its been a hard week here. Little Princess is ill with tonsillitis and only a mummy hug will do. Mr CM had it around Christmas and hes found it really hard to shake off.  I spent most of yesterday in bed with her snuggling watching dvd's.  I hope she feels better real soon as i hate to see her so poorly.

The days , although cold, have been sunnier and I can see sight of spring rearing its head.
The sight of the mini daffodils blooming on my window sill means that the warmer weather  will soon be here and I'm thankful for that.

I finished a little baby cardigan and hat this week.  Crafting has been few and far between because of the ill child! The Pattern is free and can be found here.  Its super easy to follow and yet very pretty and effective.  The blog has lots of sizes available and its  free.  (free doesn't always mean good but in this case it does!)  Pop long and take a looky.
again apologies for the awful photograph!
I hope to be back next week with  much fuller post and some tadah! moments of finished projects.
sorry for the shortness of the post, little one is calling!
bye for now

Oh yes its ladies night!

Hello again!
I'm back from the ladies retreat. I had a fantastic time. the view from my bedroom window was lovely. Sometimes  I would just go and lie on the bed and enjoy the view. There were so many different types of birds in the garden.  I love birds but we don't tend to get them in our garden because of the high volume of cats in the area. (except the big butch seagulls)

Again apologies for the ropey photos. I'm still looking for the missing camera.
The days were filled with laughter and song and food. Lots and lots of food!  If it had snowed heavily we could have stayed there for another week with the food we had there! Everyone was so generous with their gifts of food, time and generosity.  I felt truly loved throughout the weekend.  I had a chance to connect to other women in the church who I haven't really spoken to much before.   We had a devotional time together which was brilliantly led by our pastors wife. We wrote down our dreams and aspirations for the coming year and sealed them in a envelope to be opened at the end of the year.  I have written down three different things which I want to happen this year.  I will share it with you at the end of the year.
I shared a bedroom (and bed) with my good friend.  It was strange sleeping in the same bed as someone who wasn't my husband.  But it didn't stop me from sleeping!
In the evening there was a roaring fire and hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows!  oh and crochet. lots of crochet!
On Saturday afternoon a lot of the women went for a walk in the countryside but for those of us left behind we did some sewing with felt. It was very relaxed and just a time together to chat and craft and drink copious amounts of coffee!
All in all We had a great time!
On the crochet front I have finished the baby cot blanket.  The colours are beautiful and the photo really doesn't do it justice.  Lets just say I'm sorely tempted to keep it for myself as a snuggle blanket!
again apologies for the awful photos!

Well the time has come again for me to go.  Be blessed and keep warm!
Bye for now

In the bleak mid winter!

Hello! Boy its cold!
I'm not one to feel the cold really but these last few days have been icy. Its good I haven't had to go out much so I could snuggle up under the blankets and knit or crochet. Ive made a start on another cowl poncho. I just love the way the ribbing comes together and is so bouncy and soft. Perfect to snuggle your face down out of the wind.  Here's my lovely niece  modelling for me so I could get a good picture.

I'm totally in love with the colours and especially love the burnt orange.  I could see myself knitting a cardigan out of that colour.

I have also made a start on a baby cot blanket in a lovely mint and white stripe.  its a beautiful mix of colours.  I am crocheting using the "V" stitch and its working out quite nicely.

Oh course I had to use a green hook to make it!
The start of the year is always a good time to start a diary.  I have kept one for many years and have kept the last seven years worth on my bookshelf.  I really wish I had kept more of them as I enjoy reading them back and remembering little things or moments i had written about.  This year is the first year that Princess CM has kept a diary.  shes still only nine but its lovely to see her recording moments of her day each evening.  Bless her she has been really diligent in completing her diary entry each day.  Ive encouraged her to write her prayers down too as then when they are answered she has a record to look back on.  She decided our diaries were too bland and boring so gave then a makeover!

We can certainly see them at a distance now!  Do you keep a diary? If not I encourage you to do so.  It needed be a essay writing experience each day, just a few words to record your thoughts and feelings.  Diary keeping is not just for teenagers you know!

I am off to a ladies retreat today with our church.  I'm so looking forward to a bit of me time.  Sharing time with like minded ladies over bible, food and friendship.
Well I guess its time to go now.  Have a lovely weekend whatever you are doing.
Bye for now

Poncho success!

Hello again.
I hope you are all well and keeping warm! It has been terribly cold here. we get up to frost on the ground and while beautiful to look at I know some people don't enjoy it as much as I do! Well I finished the cowl poncho. here's my tadar!!!
What do you think? I love the colours. The way the bright colours sit so nicely on the dark grey background. I'm so very pleased with it! |I now have it up for sale and I'm hoping someone buys it really soon or i may be tempted to have it for myself! Also hot off the needles is a lovely little woodland friend Henrietta Hedgehog.
Isn't she sssooooo cute! I love her little toes poking out! Unfortunately i have been unable to wrestle this from the clammy hands of The Princess so she now belongs to her but Ive bought more wool to make one for me! she was made using the new King Kole tinsel chunky which can be found here in various colour.  One ball is enough to knit one large hog or two little ones suing the king cole pattern 901.  I'm sure more of these will be popping up in blog land really soon.

This weekend i am off to a ladies retreat with our church.  I'm really looking forward to some time to just sit and reflect on the Lord and life in general.  Sometimes it does us good to sit back and reflect on our lives and to make  desisions or just enjoy being ourselves with out the added pressures around us like housework, children etc.  I know I'm really looking forward to it and will tell you all about it when I get home.
Well time to sign off

poncho and deramores review

Hello again!
As I'm just lying in bed a smile comes to my lips. I can hear my nine year old beautiful blessing singing along to popular from wicked the musical and I feel a sense of "YES!!" I have passed on my love of musical theatre to my daughter! Music has always been a big part of my life and i miss working in the industry. Still my crafts and family keep me busy!

This week I've been quite busy with crafts. I've started work on the beautiful cowl poncho from Decembers issue of Simply crochet. this is my beautiful friend modelling it for me.

Then i worked on a cowl scarf. i found this extremely difficult to photograph so i apologise for the quality of the photos.

I placed a order this week with Deramores. I haven't used them before and in fact there is only one other time i have ordered on line for wool. i was really surprised with the service they offer. I spent £25.50 so I received free delivery (the order was delivered next day) Foe that money I got 800grm of red heart aran yarn in various colours, 4 pairs of Knitting needle's and 3 patterns. A super buy. i was impressed all round. the wool was lovely and soft, my order was exactly as ordered and they sent emails telling me the progress of my order. All in all a very good experience. I would definitely use them again. (just so you know i have not been paid for this post the views are totally my own!)
You can find Deramores by clicking here.

Well its time to sign off now and I hope to catch up with you all soon
bye for now

new year, new goals

And so we find ourselves at the beginning of a new year.
I've set myself some goals for this year. Not New year's resolutions as I never keep to those but lifestyle goals.

1, I'd really like to get more organised. Both in my mind, home, and crafting.  I have a tendency to be very enthusiastic about things and then lose concentration half way through.  Partly this is due to my medical condition but also my personality.  I intend to have a major declutter around the house to make organising much easier

2.  Make money from my crafting. I don't want to make a huge amount (although I wouldn't say no!)  But I would like to have a little profit. If I charge at all I tend to just charge the price of materials and not my time and effort.  I'm not intending to make a business as such but a little extra is always welcome.

3. Study God's word more.  I tend to read the bible mostly at night before bed but I'm thinking that maybe the morning would be better?  Not sure I'm just still pondering that at the moment.

Well that's my initial thoughts for the moment.  I plan to revisit this post about July time and see what my progress (if any) has been.  I'm not putting any pressure on myself and I will just go with the flow as they say!

I've been busy knitting away over the holidays but as yet I have no decent photographs to show.  The lighting here is hideously bad right now.  I'm praying for a sunny day where I can have a photographing frenzy!

Well time to sign off.
I hope you have a wonderfully blessed week whatever you are doing.
Bye for now
