Back to school blues

So Princess went off to school today all excited with a big smiley face! But this is me

I always feel a little sad when the holidays are over.  Mind you its not like she and the rest of the family haven't left enough for me too do!  As a extra Christmas present DH bought me a welsh style dresser to be a home for my teacup and saucer collection,  Its a super piece of furniture but I've had to move the kitchen around to accommodate it.  So I thought while I'm doing that I may as well completely spring clean the kitchen!
WHY!!!!!!!!!!
Am I completely silly!  I'm now halfway through and needed a cuppa and a break!  There is so much stuff!  there is enough to furnish three kitchens!  I really must stop hording things and trust that when I am in need of something then God will provide the perfect item at the perfect time.  I'm down sizing EVERYTHING!!! Mugs how many do we actually use?  Casserole dishes?  I always end up using the same old faithful ones.  Pudding bowls?  Not one but two, TWO!! breadmakers!  Far far too many.  so its all got to go.  Ive just put a advert on free cycle and hopefully someone can make use of them to stop them going in landfill.
So room one (kitchen) and room two ( utility room) are the target for today.  Tomorrow?  who knows!

making curtains from a wall hanging

i recently bought a throw type wall hanging. it was made in india and has beautiful patterns and colours on it. it is too big to put on our walls and has been hanging around doing nothing. so i decided to turn it in to curtains. there is a storage space we have between the lounge and utility room which is a dead space but now with the curtain up its usable for more storage.
and also the beautiful fabric gets to be shown off!

decluttering part two!

our utility room has always been a problem area. mostly because the kids have started to use it as somewhere to dump their stuff! but also because of the amount of laundry we do.

About a year ago we bought a storage system from B&Q. it was really expensive and i think the sheves were about £15 each. well we went into Homebase yesterday and had a look through their sale stuff. they had the rack and storage baskets in the sale for £1.99! so we bought some and fitted them. At last the utility room is fully functioning! and looks tidy too! (well at least for now!)

i love bargain sales!

A number of cleaning brushes.Image via Wikipedia

today ive decided to declutter the house!
with five of us living in a two bedroomed house it is quite hard to keep on top of all the clutter and junk that we seem to gather!
i always find that the best time to do this is when the children are out as they cant see what im getting rid of and dont try to retrive everything from the bin!

i try to keep on top of everything but it doesnt seem to work! sometimes i feel like im fighting a losing battle!
i need some kind of system for housework. ive had my own home for sixteen years but i still struggle to get in to some kind of routine! will it ever happen?
